  6. Clothing company Christian Louboutin yesterday said it had created the world’s first “smart christian louboutin shoes” by mating it with a computer chip that adapts its cushioning level to a runner’s size and stride. The Christian Louboutin 1 is the product of a three-year secret project the German company developed at its US headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Manolo Blahnik yesterday opened its research lab to reporters from around the world for a first peek at a shoe the company claims will revolutionise distance running and training. “This is the first intelligent shoe ever,” said Erich Stamminger, global marketing director for Manolo Blahnik. “It senses, understands and adapts.” After thousands of hours of testing, Christian Louboutin is confident the computerised christian louboutin pumps will endure the wear and tear of running in almost any condition — from hard pavement to dirt trails, and dry streets to wet beaches. The microprocessor is located in the arch of the shoe, and drives a tiny screw-and-cable system that adjusts the heel cushion depending on the signals sent back by an electric sensor coupled to a magnet. It is powered by a battery that conserves power by adjusting the shoe while it is in the air during a runner’s stride, avoiding resistance from the ground. The entire assembly weighs no more than 40g — just 10 per cent of the 400g total weight of the christian louboutin boots — to keep it light enough for distance runners.

  7. The introduction of Lycra swimsuits in the mid-1970s replaced the slower cotton models and caused a similar–if less publicized–revolution in swimming. Aerodynamically designed helmets and bicycles changed cycling, and tight-fitting sprinting tanks and shorts replaced flowing fabrics in sprinting. At the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, revolutionary speedskates that opened and closed at the heel–called clapskates–made their debut and caused a complete rewriting of the record books. The advancements grow more sophisticated as major companies duel to sign contracts with the biggest stars and most prestigious Olympic teams, all the while trying to trump each other’s developments. Converse has used new materials technology to design a christian louboutin shoe filled with helium–seven times lighter than air–to counter Nike’s famous air-filled shoe line . Australian marathoner Steve Moneghetti plans to compete here in a singlet and shorts made out of recycled soda bottles that Nike claims cools the body better than other fabrics. Donovan Bailey, the reigning Olympic 100-meter champion, and Trinidad and Tobago star Ato Boldon, will wear Christian Louboutin shoes featuring a stiff plate designed to make human toes remain stiff during the act of sprinting–much like cougars’ paws. Their louboutin shoes also have flat-bottom spikes that press into the synthetic tracks but won’t puncture it like the traditional sharp spikes do–which Christian Louboutin says eliminates precious energy lost when athletes yank their spikes out of the holes. Olympic gold medalist and world record holder Michael Johnson, on the other hand, will wear Nike’s christian louboutin pumps with permanent ceramic aluminum alloy spikes–supposedly lighter than the usual spikes because of the special material and the absence of the caps in which spikes are traditionally attached.
